Submission Guidelines
for 2007
DEADLINE FOR ALL SUBMISSIONS: February 5, 2007
Drop off all submissions in The Writing Center,
CLAS 159, in the Long River Review drop box, or send
them to “Long
River Review Submissions, 215 Glenbrook Road, U-4025, Storrs, CT
06269-4025”. Indicate the genre (poetry, fiction, nonfiction,
art) submitted on the outside of the envelope.
NOTE: Any submission not following
guidelines will be discarded.
Fiction/Non-Fiction/Poetry
(all work should be submitted in both hard copy and
disk)
- You may submit up to eight pages of poetry.
- You may submit up to two prose works. They must
be 2500 words or less.
- Download, print, and complete the “Submission
Cover Sheet and Consent Form” available here. Be
sure to provide ALL required information, including an e-mail
address that you check regularly.
- Do not put your name on the submission itself,
but do include your PeopleSoft ID on every page submitted.
- Poems should be single-spaced. Everything else
should be double-spaced. Use 12-point Times New Roman font.
- Please also include a single-spaced 25-word biographical
statement.
- You must also include a copy of your submission
in Word (.doc) format on a floppy disk or CD labeled with your
name. Work on disks/CDs should be identical to paper copies submitted,
properly formatted. Title your disk/CD files as follows: GENRE_titleofpiece.doc,
BIO_yourname.doc (example: FICTION_MondayMorning.doc, BIO_JohnDoe).
- Students may submit in several genres, but please
do so in separate sets. Make a separate packet with a separate
cover sheet for each genre.
- Do not submit your only copy of a work;
literary submissions will not be returned.
Art (Painting,
Drawing, Photography, Cartooning, Printmaking, Graphic Art)
- Download, print, and complete the “Submission
Cover Sheet and Consent Form” available here. Be
sure to provide ALL required information, including an e-mail
address that you check regularly.
- You may submit photographs of your work with each
photo clearly labeled with your name and title of work OR send
us images of the work scanned onto a clearly labeled disk. Scanned
artwork should be submitted in tiff format with a minimum resolution
of 300 dpi at a printable size of roughly 6 x 9 inches. eps format
for line art is also acceptable. Indicate title of each piece.
- Include a 25-word biographical statement with
the disk in the format indicated above (BIO_yourname.doc).
- For return of work, please include a self-addressed
stamped envelope with adequate postage. Allow several weeks for
return.
